HIV/AIDS HIV and AIDs is a threat both to human and national security. It has the potential to seriously compromise national militaries and the well being of societies and economies of countries in the Asia Pacific region. While HIV/AIDs is incurable, it is manageable. Prevention, treatment and care are vital for force protection and readiness. Several countries within the region have implemented their own programs, or are developing programs that meet their specific requirements. COE is in a position to facilitate education, training and research within the Asia Pacific region because of its congressional mandate and its relationships with militaries, in particular, with peacekeepers and peacekeeping. Information on COE's HIV/AIDs program and information on other
programs and resources, focusing on those which cross the civilian
