Combined Humanitarian
Assistance Response Training (CHART)
Duration: 1 week
Combined Humanitarian Assistance Response Training (CHART) is an
introductory course designed to provide basic information about
complex contingency operations in an international arena to U. S.
military service men and women. The course has been adapted for
foreign militaries requesting the training, including the Singapore
Armed Forces and the Japan Self-Defense Forces. Graduates of this
course are better prepared to perform their duties toward achieving
the missions as prescribed by their command in theaters where complex
contingencies exist.

Training Assistance Program (TAP)
Duration: 4 days or less
The Center offers customized education and training packages
called the Training Assistance Program or TAP. These training programs
are designed to meet specific training objectives of the requesting
organization. The host organization selects the curriculum and
devleops a draft agenda based on the training objectives and target
audience. The Center's staff can provide the didactic training,
facilitation support and case study management in support of the
event. The curriculum can be based on existing Center products, such
as EIPC and CHART, or be developed to meet emerging mission focused
requirements for the requesting organization.

Health Emergencies in Large Populations
(HELP)
Duration: 3 weeks
The HELP course is a three-week intensive graduate-level training
course, taught in conjunction with the Medical Division of the International
Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Through the facilitation of the Center
for Excellence, the HELP course has been taught for four consecutive
years at the East-West Center, located on the University of Hawaii
Manoa Campus in Honolulu, Hawaii. The HELP Course was created by
the ICRC with the participation of the University of Geneva and the World Health Organization (WHO) to
meet the public health needs of health professionals working in
emergency situations.

Pandemic Influenza Courses
(PI)
Duration: 5 days or less
COE has launched a second year series of Pandemic Influenza courses in the region. The effort is focused on building capacity, enhancing relationships, and exchanging information. The over arching design is to facilitate and participate with countries in the region that desire to enhance their surveillance and response capabilities to a Public Health emergency.
