Dennis McCoola
Project Specialist Manager
Dennis McCoola joined the Center for Excellence in October 2007 as part
of the Medical Unit team. Dennis has extensive experience in medical operations
and planning as a Medical Service Corps officer in the US Army Active and
Reserve Components over a twenty seven year period. He played a key role in
numerous exercises within the US Pacific Command area of responsibility in Korea, Japan,
the Philippines, and Malaysia.
He arrived in Hawaii
in 1978 to serve on active duty as an Infantry Battalion Medical Platoon
Leader with the US Army’s 25th Infantry Division at Schofield
Barracks. As a Reserve Officer he served as a medical detachment commander,
brigade-level adjutant, medical operations officer, and a Command and General Staff College
instructor. He retired from the Army Reserve in 2005 as a Lieutenant
Colonel after commanding Detachment 2, 1984th US Army Hospital,
at Tripler Army Medical
Center.
In addition to his military background, Dennis has over twenty five
years of private industry experience in management and business-to-business
sales. Early in his business career, he worked as a technical marketing
advisor in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for an
international supplier of construction tools and fastening systems
technology.
Dennis has an undergraduate degree in Political Science from Shippensburg University
in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania
and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Hawaii
Pacific University
in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is a graduate of the US Army
Command and General Staff College at Ft.
Leavenworth, Kansas.
Since 1997 he has held an adjunct faculty position at Hawaii
Pacific University
where he teaches an undergraduate management class in the College of Business
Administration.
